What’s your day job?
Sales Manager at Les Mills Newmarket – that’s why you see me there all the time :D

What got you into teaching/inspires you with fitness
I joined Les Mills in Feb 2019 and loved the group fitness classes! I started following a routine of classes after the first lockdown in August 2020. Around Christmas 2020, Jade Davis, an instructor who currently teaches at Howick, “Ace, all the instructors were once members like you. Why don’t you become an instructor?” he said. “I’ve just got promoted and I am waiting for the right time to express my interest to become an instructor” I replied. “There isn’t a right time. If you want to do something, you gotta do it!” Jade said. That blew my mind! In July 2021, I started my instructor journey at Les Mills Newmarket :)

What do you teach and why?
BodyPump, SPRINT, RPM and Strength Development.

•    BodyPump is awesome because you move with the music and has really great world hit tracks. Great for muscle endurance and toning.
•    SPRINT is HITT training on a bike – Sharp and short! Very good for anaerobic training and cardiovascular fitness, with less impact on your joints.
•    RPM is the classic cycle program of Les Mills. I was not a fond of it at the beginning. However, it grew in me and I love it so much now! Great rhythm, moderate to high intensity and endurance.
•    Strength Development is great hypertrophy training in group sitting. It’s perfect for the ones who are not comfortable to be on the gym floor.

Why LM?
Before I joined Les Mills, I thought it was only for posh and show off people. However, after having a trial for a month, I came to realise that I was totally wrong! Les Mills is a world leader in group fitness and uses science behind every workout. It’s well-studied and developed. It’s kinda difficult to find something as amazing as Les Mills Programs. On top of that, Les Mills is a Kiwi owned and operated business. Something to be proud of!

What motivational quote do you live by?
“Your mind is a garden. Your thoughts are seeds. You can grow flowers, or you can grow weeds” Unknown
Any other fun facts?
1.    I consume about 3kg of super crunchy F&F peanut butter a month :D
2.    'Ace' isn't the name my parents gave me, but I have been using it since 2008. I legally changed it to Ace in 2020. You can ask me for my birth name if you've read this 😉
3.    I went to Syria multiple times when I was a young. It was my favourite country!
