What’s your day job?
I work as a Registered Nurse for Breast Associates - a team of 5 Surgeons, 1 Breast Physician, 4 Nurses & support staff
What got you into teaching/inspires you with fitness?
Quite simply, movement to music, the highs & lows of exercise to motivating music & everything about how it makes us feel, anticipating, during & after the workout. It is the most underrated antidepressant there is!
What do you teach and why?
I teach everything CYCLE... because it’s a cardiovascular workout without impact on the joints (& I LOVE the bike). The synergy between the bike, the rhythm of the music & riding on the beat creates an endorphin high that is addictive. I want to share that with anyone & everyone who wants to experience the feeling. It’s not age restrictive & keeps the muscle & joints mobile.
Why LM?
I don’t think there is a fitness entity that does it better. LM has amazing Program Developers & teams that create unique fitness experiences with new content every 3 months and the most up to date banging beats. There is a multitude of programs so there’s something for everyone & you can find LM programs in fitness facilities all over the world – it's hard to beat!
What motivational quote do you live by?
Believe & you will Achieve – my motto for my Personal Training clients
Any other fun facts?
I started my fitness journey in a LM franchise gym in Rotorua in the early 90’s - yes g-string leotards were definitely a thing & fluro was in. Our music was on tape cassettes & we lined them up & put one in at a time to play our tracks. I have been in Auckland 27 years & have been teaching CYCLE classes for 22 of those years. I competed in half iron man events as the women’s team cyclist (90km distance) for 7 of those years. We won in Tauranga 3 times, and placed second in Auckland, & Taupo twice. I still love motivating & inspiring on the bike every time I walk in the studio!
