What’s your day job?
I am a Fitness Coordinator in a community gym in South Auckland.

What got you into teaching/inspires you with fitness?
After falling in love with group fitness classes yeaaaars ago, I decided to take the leap into becoming an Instructor (first programme being BODYATTACK). I enjoyed it so much and it led me into taking more trainings, workshops and more studying... to end up where I am now, working full time in the Fitness industry.
What inspires me the most with fitness is how much of an impact we as fitness professionals can have on our members. Hearing some incredible, inspirational stories, helping them feel more comfortable in movement so they can improve their day-to-day lives as well. All of this makes me proud to do what I do.

What do you teach and why?
I currently teach Yoga and BODYPUMP (I also used to teach BODYATTACK, GRIT, BODYBALANCE). Our first COVID lockdown made me focus more on mindfulness and dive more into the movement culture, which I felt was the part of fitness that I could really connect with. Teaching Yoga is where I feel like being myself the most and my goal for each class is to make everyone feel the same by simply embracing their ability to move on the day.

Why LM?
Les Mills has amazing and a great variety of programmes that help people improve their physical and mental health for sure, but what makes the classes really epic are the Instructors taking these classes. And we are super lucky to have an outstanding group fitness team coming from different backgrounds giving their 100% on stage.

What motivational quote do you live by?
You won't know unless you try.
Also, not really a quote, but I always remind myself as often as possible to be grateful for the things I have.

Any other fun facts?
Not a fun fact in itself, but my career goal before getting into fitness was to teach French to non-native speakers (I love everything about languages and linguistics).  I'm glad to see I still homehow stayed in the teaching sphere! Weirdly enough though, despite being French (and I guess because all my fitness trainings and actual work/classes are in English), I do not think I would be able to teach a class in French naturally (feel free to ask me one day to try if you want a good laugh!).
