Anjie started her journey with rhythmic gymnastics, ballet, and athletics before settling on martial arts and functional strength training. She is influenced by her dad, an incredible athlete known for competing in gruelling races around the world, such as the Spartathlon, an ultramarathon in Greece (a 246-kilometer race, or six marathons back-to-back!). In 1991, her dad came 3rd place, finishing in 30:50:35 (hours, minutes, seconds), successfully crossing 75 checkpoints. Naturally, Anjie's first marathon was to be on the Great Wall of China.
An avid traveller, Anjie combines travel and fitness to push herself and others to achieve goals. She loves being immersed in the experiences that travel affords, new cultures, new places, new people, and new food! Some of her active holiday's or 'runcations' (Run+Vacation) have taken her to Thailand, Cambodia, Tahiti, Rarotonga, and China.
Nutrition is also a passion of Anjie's; she understands that food and eating habits form the foundation of how we feel. She's interested in using data collected from what we eat and combines this with metrics on the body and performance to bring continuous improvement. Nutrition coaching is one of Anjie's strengths.
Anjie is also an experienced senior change manager, dealing with the journey of change and transformation for individuals and organisations. She combines the psychology of change with increasing fitness and nutrition coaching to provide a holistic personal training experience for busy individuals.
With nearly a decade of experience as Les Mills group fitness instructor, Anjie understands that teaching classes is pivotal in guiding others on a meaningful journey towards wellness. The most cherished aspects of group fitness for Anjie include the communal energy, the music, the shared endorphin highs, and the friendships made.
In life and in fitness, Anjie is inspired by the virtues of resilience, continuous learning, passion, and kindness. The real heroes, in Anjie's eyes, are the everyday people who show up despite numerous challenges in their way, a philosophy that deeply influences both her professional and personal endeavours.
If you want sustainable change in fitness, nutrition, and wellness, Anjie would be delighted to be your change manager and cheerleader. Please get in touch via email or text.
